The Milwaukee Torrent will have a new home for the 2017 season, as the team will be playing their matches at Hart Park in Wauwatosa. Owner Andy Davi cited the move for convenience purposes.
“First off, we want to thank Uihlein Soccer Park for being so supportive and hosting us during our first season. The Torrent are excited to call Hart Park our new home. We will be practicing on the same field where our matches will be held, and this is important for our players.”
Hart Park is conveniently located near downtown Milwaukee, right off the freeway, easily accessible via County Transit System and multiple bike routes. As an added bonus, the area is also home to several bars, retail and restaurants.
“We are happy to have the support of the mayor and the city of Wauwatosa. We have been working on this for several weeks, are very pleased with the outcome and are excited to be part of Hart Park and it’s surrounding community,” said Andy Davi.
Wauwatosa mayor Kathy Ehley was proud about the move and knows that the Torrent will have a positive impact on the community.
“In the last 15 years, Wauwatosa has invested in the transformation of Hart Park,” said Wauwatosa Mayor Kathy Ehley. “We’re proud of the caliber of our facilities and excited that Milwaukee’s only professional outdoor soccer team, the Milwaukee Torrent, will call Hart Park home. This latest addition to our park reinforces our commitment to a healthy lifestyle and will encourage adults and children to be active and have fun.”
Hart Park has a capacity of 4,625 and has hosted numerous events including Marquette University High School and Wauwatosa East football games, Marquette University lacrosse games as well as other events from other Milwaukee area teams and organizations. The 35 acre park is located along the Menomonee River and is also home to a nature park and hiking trails, a picnic area, playground and a public ice rink. The Milwaukee Torrent season kicks off in late April.
