Torrent Win Over Indiana

The Milwaukee Torrent traveled to Indiana on Sunday in need of three points. If they were to stand any chance of finishing where they want in the standings, it became a must win. The Torrent would grind away, continue to fight as a team, and never give up in a 3-2 win over FC Indiana.

It’s been a theme for this team all season; never give up, ever. Sunday was no different. After an early tally by Mark Hutchinson off a free kick, Indiana fought back to tie the match going into halftime. In the second half it would be a converted PK and a great run on that would get Hutchinson the hat trick and the Torrent three points.

Veteran Makes Presence Known

Mark Hutchinson GoalHutchinson would play a pivotal role in the win. His leadership and goal scoring ability would be the difference.

“I’ve always taken PK’s my whole life,” explained Hutchinson. “I always use the same technique so I’m confident I’m going to score every time.”

“(He) gives us a level of consistency up front,” stated assistant coach Mark Litton when asked about Hutchinson. “His first goal was from a free kick, second was a PK, third was a run on. He has a knack for being in the right place at the right time. And he makes the most of the few chances he gets in the game.”

The Torrent were short seven players for the match due to injuries and carry over red cards. But Hutchison would be the leader the team needed to get the job done.

“He carries us on his shoulders at times. Today, he ‘showed up’ when others struggled to hit the mark. We are thankful to have a player like this on the team,” said Litton.

“I feel last year, we would have lost this type of game,” stated Hutchinson. “We didn’t stop until the final whistle and made sure we got the win.”

Win Was A Must

The three points against Indiana were critical for the Torrent. With four matches remaining, the Torrent are still in a position to finish strong in the conference. Milwaukee will travel to Ann Arbor, play at home against Columbus, and play a home and away set with Detroit City.

When asked how this team prepares themselves for a late season run, Hutchinson explained, “We’ve been playing well for a while now but just haven’t been getting results. We’re confident that we can go on a run and make things interesting.”

“We can’t look past our next game,” states Assistant Coach Litton. “We need to look at who our next opponent is and prepare specifically for them.”
